The following article was published on the German English Association’s website. We thought it would also be of interest to some Pickwickians and so we have reposted it here.
The UK Department for Exiting the European Union has published a document Citizens’ rights – EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill where it states that
“The Withdrawal Agreement protects the rights of more than three million EU citizens living in the UK and around one million UK nationals living in the EU. It ensures that they can continue contributing to their communities and living their lives broadly as they do now.”
“Those protected by the Withdrawal Agreement will be able to continue to live, work, study and access public services and benefits in the countries in which they currently reside.”
By following the link you can download that document which will hopefully reassure you amongst other things on the question of continuing health care provisions under the legislation currently passing through UK Parliament.
Citizens’ rights – EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill.
There is, it seems, a clear statement that citizens currently enjoying some social welfare and/or healthcare will continue.
Therefore anyone currently in receipt of a UK Government State pension should apply without delay to enjoy free health care in Germany.
