DESCRIPTION:(Picture by FotoRieth on Pixabay) \nIt’s been a while since our traditional Pickwick New Year’s walk\, so it’s high time we got out again! René has looked through his Taunus hiking routes and combined two short walks into one ‘proper’ hike: \nStarting in Oberursel-Hohemark\, the Keltenrundwanderweg (Celtic Trail) showcases the remains of an important pre-Roman Celtic settlement. This comparatively short circular route (with some inclines) takes us back to Hohemark for a quick break. The second part of the route is slightly longer but flatter\, taking us to the Hünerberg hill before returning to Hohemark for a late lunch. \nThe details:\nMeeting point:\n\nOberursel-Hohemark station (U3)\nSunday 7 June\n10:15\n\nGoogle Maps link \nPublic transport suggestions:\n\nAlternative A\n(starting at Hauptbahnhof) \n\n09:34 Leave Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (Platform 104)\n(S5 towards Friedrichsdorf)\n09:52 Arrive at Oberursel S-Bahn station (Platform 3)\n10:00 Leave Oberursel U-Bahn station\n(U3 towards Oberursel-Hohemark)\n10:12 Arrive at Oberursel-Hohemark\n\n\nAlternative B\n(starting at Hauptwache) \n\n09:34 Leave Frankfurt Hauptwache\n(U3 towards Oberursel-Hohemark)\n10:12 Arrive at Oberursel-Hohemark\n\n\n\nThe Walk:\nThe total length of the comparatively easy walk is about 11.5 km. \nThe first part is just over 4 km long and starts uphill\, following the signposted Keltenrundwanderweg. We should pass Hohemark again around 11:30. \nThe second part is just over 7 km long and starts in the opposite direction. It passes the Klinik Hohe Mark sanatorium and continues slightly uphill to the Hünerberg hill. It then leads us back to Hohemark\, where we will end the walk with lunch at the Waldtraut restaurant in the Taunus-Informationszentrum at around 2 pm. \nIf you are interested in joining us\, please click the ‘Sign up’ button below!
