SUMMARY:Special Annual General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:As already announced\, this year’s Pickwicks AGM will be held on Wednesday 4 March\, at Nidda Restaurant. This is a legal requirement as long as Pickwicks is a non-registered organisation (Nicht eingetragener Verein). This will be the club’s last AGM (in its 50th year)\, after which we will continue as an informal group without statutes or membership fees.   \nWe will meet as usual from 7 p.m.\, and the meeting will start at 8 p.m. It is suggested that those wanting to have a meal there arrive a bit earlier\, at 6 or 6.30\, so that there will be no interruptions to the actual meeting. \nThe Committee looks forward to a good turnout. DESCRIPTION:The Festive Season is fast approaching\, and in just over five weeks Pickwicks will be celebrating Christmas on Saturday 13 December\, with a brunch in Niederursel. \nWe are returning after some years to Café Mutz in Alt-Niederursel. For those travelling by public transport\, take the U3\, U8 or U9 (depending where you’re coming from) to the stop Niederursel. Take the road Spielsgasse at the side of the restaurant Zum Lahmen Esel\, and it’s a short walk\, crossing the Urselbach\, to Café Mutz on the left-hand side. \nThe brunch will start at 11.30 a.m.\, and the cost is €19.50 (drinks extra). We look forward to welcoming many of you there\, and hope that Father Christmas will be able to take time out from his busy schedule to make an appearance! \nThe brunch at Café Mutz is very popular\, so to avoid disappointment\, please register by Tuesday 9 December at the very latest!

SUMMARY:Weekend outing to Korbach and the Edersee reservoir
DESCRIPTION:Fourteen years ago\, Pickwicks visited the Edersee reservoir and its surroundings. Now\, we are planning a slightly different weekend trip to the area in September. \nKorbach is a quaint little town about two hours north of Frankfurt with many half-timbered houses in its historic centre and a well-preserved city wall. Nearby attractions include a visitor gold mine and the “Korbacher Spalte\,” a 20-metre-deep cleft in the Earth’s surface which has yielded important fossil finds. \nKorbach is about 45 minutes from the Edersee dam\, so we plan to visit Korbach on the first day of the trip and then explore some of the Edersee attractions on the way back to Frankfurt on Sunday. \nAs of now\, the plan comprises: \nDay 1\n\nTravel to Korbach by car pool and arrive around noon\nGuided tour: “Within the Town Walls”\nUnderground tour of the visitor gold mine\nDinner.\n\nDay 2\nAfter breakfast\, explore some of the Edersee attractions: \n\nReservoir dam visitor centre\nEdersee (2-hour boat trip)\nVisit the “Atlantis” sunken villages\, which reappear at low water levels\nReturn to Frankfurt.\n\nThis is an outline itinerary which will have to be adapted according to weather conditions\, the Edersee’s water level in September\, and the interests of the participants. \nSome people have already booked rooms at the Hotel Am Dalwigker Tor. DESCRIPTION:The date and venue for the Pickwicks Oldtimers’ meeting has been set. \n\nIt will be on Sunday 16th February at Depot 1899 in Sachsenhausen (very close to Südbahnhof and very easy to get there): an all you can eat buffet open from 11:00 to 14:30. DESCRIPTION:This year\, by way of an experiment\, Pickwicks’ pre-Christmas get-together will be a less formal event\, in the form of a Saturday brunch. It leaves time afterwards for Christmas shopping\, a visit to Frankfurt’s Christmas market\, or to a museum\, and the evening is still free for other seasonal commitments. \nWe meet at Bar Celona\, Holzgraben 31\, very close to Hauptwache\, which is convenient for both U-Bahn and S-Bahn. For those coming by car\, the nearest multi-storey car park is Parkhaus Hauptwache nearby\, Kornmarkt 10. \nBar Celona offers an all-you-can-eat buffet for a very reasonable €14.95\, with drinks extra. We have a separate area to ourselves at the back of the café. (There is good reason to think that Santa will make his usual welcome appearance!) \nWe have reserved from 10 a.m.\, and people should be there by 11 a.m.\, to ensure that no-one else is allocated the seats. Brunch ends at 2 p.m.\, but people can stay after that if they wish to. \nPlease only sign up if you really intend to come\, and if there are serious grounds for cancelling\, please let us know. DESCRIPTION:Dear Pickwicks\, \nThat’s something really interesting and appealing\, what I’m offering you now – Kronberg! \nIt’s a city-tour of Kronberg wich will take place in the night of November 17th (Sunday)\, starting at 18:00\, the guides wearing Middle-Age costumes and lanterns fitting to their costumes. \nKronberg is in itself a city of tales. \nIt’s a jewel of Taunus! Its old houses\, its castle\, its  mountains and nature and the whole atmosphere draws you to the glorious antique times of the city. Times which one can feel by all occasions while being there. \nWe’ll meet up at the S4 terminus in Kronberg at 17:30. \nThe price for the tour is €7.00.
