The scene is a drawing of the princess sleeping in her bed among rose bushes, with Prince Charming bending down over her, about to touch her arm and awaken her.

Sleeping Beauty

The Story

A magical tale of Fairies, true love, curses and spinning wheels!

The Princess Rose is about to celebrate her eighteenth birthday and the end of a long-standing curse put on her by the evil fairy Malicia. The future looks bright, but the wicked fairy is not to be thwarted!

Can Rose’s friends Nurse Nelly Nutmeg and court jester Jingling Jerry save her? Will she find true love with the dashing Prince Rhod? Can the good but somewhat scatter-brained fairy Forget-me-not remember how to aid the goodies?

A traditional family pantomime packed with jokes, silliness and oodles of audience participation!

(If you are familiar with British Pantomime, you can skip this section.)

You thought the holidays in Britain were all about snow and Charles Dickens? Then you are in for a big surprise – for the holidays wouldn’t be the holidays without a visit to a panto performance!

A British panto is a traditional fairy tale – in our production, Sleeping Beauty – complete with songs, dances, jokes and exaggerated characters and lots of audience participation. It’s a wonderful way to entertain children and there’s also plenty for the adults to enjoy as well.

The centerpiece of any panto is The Dame – a comic, larger than life character played by a man. In our production, our Dame is actually a woman playing a man who is playing a woman – Nelly Nutmeg. The male lead role, the Principal Boy, is always played by a woman. In our production, this is Prince Rhod.

An important aspect of any British panto is plenty of audience participation. Join in with the characters as they sing the silly song and warn them of what’s behind them – like in a Kasperle-Theater!
